Violence- It’s not okay.

After looking over at the topics over the course of this paper, a video that I saw on Youtube has got me thinking about the issues surrounding domestic violence and video games. The video was posted by the boyfriend pictured in the video- although it is believed that the video could be fake. (Check the video out and feel the boyfriends pain ha.) Anyways,  the pure outrage from the girlfriend was not only humourous but also disturbing to say the least. The video brings great debate into the whole issue which ties Domestic violence to the playing of video games. A study by Rick Naueret suggests that exposure to violent games may increase aggressive thoughts, angry feelings, physiological arousal and agreesive behaviours.

To support this,Angry Brides also illustrates female aggression on the other hand. The game blatantly promotes the idea of Domestic violence with the Indian wife beating her husband with house hold appliances and shoes etc. With saying this however, video enagement however may not be the root of the issue. I personally think it depends on the player. How competitive he/she might be and how immersed they are in the game they are playing. Games usually help to minimize violence as players may take aggression out on in games also.
