Videogames are problematic mmmkay?

During the last lecture on videogame addiction I gained a greater understanding of how the term 'videogame addiction' is misleading and perhaps exaggerated. The word 'addiction' is loaded with all kinds of negative connotations (drugs obviously come to mind), which is why I agree with changing the term from 'videogame addiction' to 'problematic gaming'. In the tutorial we watched a clip on The Morning Show which reported a variety of symptoms associated with videogame addiction which closely mirrored drug addiction. Things like falling school grades, lying about the amount of time playing, reduced self-care. While the tutorial tended to scoff away anything the report said as being biased american propaganda used by scaremongering American media outlets (which it was), it did however highlight how at one point in my life I was a 'video game addict'. Of course the term 'problematic use' is a more accurate definition as my university grades did drop, I did lie to my parents about the time I spent playing and I definitely substituted my sleeping patterns of 10-8 for 10-8 gaming time. In my opinion  problematic use of videogames is definitely a real problem that needs to be addressed by parents/ those close with the people struggling to curb their habits, I personally got a girlfriend and she makes sure I don't get the time to play videogames for hours on end... Not sure if its a good thing or not...
