Violence in videogames and violence in reality.
Over the years as media has reported, it is considered that violence in videogames have significant affect on how the players act in real life. As well know, there have been numerous cases where a person have committed a violent act and defended themselves by blamed it on the fact that they have been playing violent videogames. But in my opinion, videogames are not as related to violence as much as people think it does. Because people play videogames because they can do things in cyber world which would be considered to be illegal in the real world. Through this, the players get the satisfaction which is unavailable anywhere else. Being in a fictional world playing a fictional character is another factor. In situations where players are so immersed into the game, that’s fine because they are embodied in a fictional world, but as soon as the players turn off their computer or Playstation, they automatically comeback into the sense of reality. This means that being able to distinguish fictional world to reality is an automatic transfer for the players as one of the reasons for playing the game in the first place is because the player gets to experience the fictional aspects which cannot be experienced in reality. Through this, the fact that people commit crimes cannot be seen as due to videogames. Because crimes were committed in the days back when there were no videogames. So rather than seeing it the way that videogames influence the crimes, it would be more correct to say that violence in today’s society influenced how videogames portray violence within the fictional world.
