GTA's rating in America

It's not the prostitutes, its not the rewards you get for mowing people down with your AK-47, its not the sex or the drugs or the crude language, its because who ever is in charge of censorship and the rating schemes in the USA is giving GTA a massive no rating, probably equivalent to a 'PG' in New Zealand

GTA isn't even rated in America, any kid of the street with nappies can rock up to any store and purchase
the game and start shooting up everyone in Liberty City. I mean what kind of message is this sending to our kids? They are allowed to play the game basically, its ok for them to go through the whole story mode of GTA at the age of 5. Is this the retailers fault or the ridiculously soft gaming regulations that the government have put fourth? This is way I understand the many misinformed academics who relate gaming with violence, because anyone in America can play any game they want what ever age they are.

Apparently Australia and New Zealand have the hardest ratings of games in the world, apparently countries are in shock that GTA is R-18 in Australasia.
