Video game and revolution

Twenty years after the first computer was created the idea of a video game was produced. Undoubtedly the creation of the computer was essential in the development of the game. Shortly after this the idea was popularized and coin arcades began to emerge throughout the United States and Japan. After popularization the creation of a gaming console playable from home emerged and since then technological developments have been occurring constantly. These technological developments have undoubtedly shaped the gaming culture that exists today. Improvements in graphics and more malicious gaming content has caused debate at the highest levels of American society, forcing even senators to comment on the current state of affairs. Over the last 50 years video games have certainly become one of the major forms of media and they continue to grow. This would not have been the case if the constant pursuit to make these games better had not taken place. The driving factor for video games has and will continue to be technological development, and it is these developments that changes and revolutionizes the culture that follows it. Software and hardware developers continue to find new ways in which the gamer gets more and more immersed in the game and entire sub cultures now surround specific games. It is also interesting to note the age groups of gamers and that it does not revolve around the younger generation. It appears as though those that were playing games 20 years ago are still playing them now and that it is a hobby and a pursuit that takes place over a longer course of time. Video games and the consoles that power them are undoubtedly a major source of media that is not only hugely influential currently but is continuing to grow as is the culture that surrounds them.
