old games vs new games

So I was feeling a bit bored last night and thought why don't I get the old PS1 out for some old school fun! I really felt like playing some Jonah Lomu rugby (1995). After about an hour of game play , it felt like I have relived the rugby world cup all over again, thats how intense it was!

I began to think about what was discussed in the lecture and tutorials about 'diegetic' and 'situated' immersion. Playing Jonah Lomu rugby , I was most certainly absorbed into the text and forgot everything exterior to the text. It made me realize that diegetic and situated immersion can still occur just as much whilst playing old school games than it does when playing the latest and greatest graphic designed games. for me , it was just the simple game play that attracted me into the game and this was more enjoyable to play than the rugby challenge on PS3 that contains 10 times better graphics than Jonah. I was fully immersed into the text and it just reminded me of the good old days playing Jonah Lomu with all my mates.

pLease reply whether u reckon old games are still the best ,compared to the latest and greatest console games.
