Memory Lane

Todays lecture about agency and consequence reminded of when I was a kid and I used to sit and play the Spiderman video game on playstation with my godbrother. He would sit there, playing first (because he always had to be first) and then I'd see him get really frustrated and then I'd start laughing at him only to have the controller thrown at me and told "you do it then!" So there I would be sitting, casually starting off quite peacefully, only to have the stupid map blinking at me telling me there was someone in danger. So I follow the map and find myself blocked at a deadend and realise it was a trap. Then he would be the one to laugh at me when I finally realised I was cornered and didn't have enough room to maneuver so I'd end up getting beaten to a pulp, no matter what combination I used.

The discussion about consequence made me think of those times. If I hadn't followed the map and continued with the original quest in the first place, would I have died so brutishly when my time came to an end? Makes me mad I didn't know this back then, well not really, but you get my point.
