FTVMS 212
Hi everyone, Rodney here. This is my real posting for this week. The Perron & Wolf reading introduced some interesting food for thought in terms of the 'Seven Challenges to Video Game Theory'. Just to focus on one point, No.4 Technology, as computers, telephones and many other devices we use in our everyday lives now require at least a minimal amount of knowledge in order to use them i.e. hardware (capacity, speed, image resolution etc) and similarly software (compatibility, usability, editions etc), many people acquire this knowledge through gaming. Unfortunately we cannot all be the young John Connor in Terminator 2 honing our future flight skills to wage war against the machines on the near legendary arcade game Afterburner , however working out even the basics of simply setting up our computers or phones, installing or downloading programs, and actually playing the games do actually make very good preparation for at least 'not being scared of or foreign to the technology' as we move into actual paid employment using 'the technology'. This area could be of interest for option 1 in the assignment for students like myself in 212. Does anyone want to add anything here? See you in class...
